instructions

In this maker space project you will be invited to use a basic formula to compose original prayers to use in all kinds of settings. This exercise is really great to do with your students, every the youngest people in the building! Use this activity with your class to create some new student-led classroom prayers.
Many of our common prayers are rooted in an ancient Hebrew prayer structure, that can be simplified to these 5 elements: you / who / do / to / through. It flows something like this:
(YOU) Good and Gracious God, (WHO) who sees beyond our faults and weakness, (DO) be with us now and reveal the love you have for each one of us, (TO) as we prepare to do your work (THROUGH) we ask this through your son Jesus, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever.
1. Grab some sticky notes and sharpies
2. Select a different person for each part of the formula. Each person writes 3-5 statements for their part of the formula.
